Basketball Recap: Chesapeake Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Chesapeake couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell to the Mt. Hebron Vikings 31-25. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Vikings apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Despite the loss, Chesapeake saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kendall Kotofski posted eight points and 17 rebounds. Kotofski is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in each of the last four games she's played.

Even though they lost, Chesapeake smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in three consecutive matches.

Chesapeake's defeat dropped their record down to 16-8. As for Mt. Hebron, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-10.

Chesapeake does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mt. Hebron, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 56-35 loss against Howard on the 5th.
