Baseball Game Preview: Dreher Blue Devils vs. Gray Collegiate Academy War Eagles

The Dreher Blue Devils will head out on the road to square off against the Gray Collegiate Academy War Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Dreher has given up an average of 9.8 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Dreher lost 14-2 to Dutch Fork on Friday. The Blue Devils have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Gray Collegiate Academy narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Augusta Christian 6-5.

Gray Collegiate Academy got a big performance out of Riley Huggins, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Those two runs gave Huggins a new career-high. JP Sweatt also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.

Dreher's loss dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Gray Collegiate Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 12-10.

Dreher was able to grind out a solid win over Gray Collegiate Academy in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 8-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blue Devils since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
