Softball Recap: Roland Park Country Takes a Loss

Roland Park Country couldn't beat St. John's Catholic Prep on Thursday even though they stacked five runs on them in the fifth inning. The Reds fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 7-6. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Reds of the 9-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2019.

Acey Hubbard spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and one unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Jill Balchunas made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.

This is the second loss in a row for Roland Park Country and nudges their season record down to 3-7. As for St. John's Catholic Prep, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-5.

As of now, neither Roland Park Country nor the Vikings have any future games scheduled.
