            Basketball Recap: Oakwood Comets vs. Chrisman Cardinals        
        
		
        
        
            Oakwood came into Thursday's   match having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They took down the Chrisman Cardinals 45-28  on Thursday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Comets also won the last time the pair played  back in January of 2024.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Oakwood to victory, but perhaps none more so than   Rylee Wright, who  posted nine  points and six  boards.  Emma Koontz also deserves some recognition as  she  posted her first  block of the season.

 Oakwood  smashed the offensive glass and  finished the game with 24  offensive rebounds. That's the most  offensive boards they've posted since back in January of 2024.
 Chrisman's loss  came despite strong showings from  Taylor Jones and  Jaidyn Alexander.  Jones  had seven points in addition to 17  rebounds and eight  blocks, while  Alexander  scored nine  points and four  steals. Jones is  on a roll when it comes to  boards, as she's  now  pulled down nine or more in the last nine games she's  played. Another player making a difference was  Whitnie Haton, who  put up three points.
Oakwood's  victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 7-14. As for Chrisman, they dropped their record down to 2-15 with the  defeat, which was their third straight  at home.
 Oakwood will welcome Georgetown-Ridge Farm  at 6:00  p.m.  on January 16th. Oakwood has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Chrisman, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next  contest,  a  54-13  loss against Cissna Park on the 15th.
