Basketball Recap: Shadow Mountain Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Shadow Mountain had lost six straight at home dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 0-6 to make it seven. They were beaten by the Mingus Marauders 81-12. The Matadors were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 53-8.

They used a three-pronged attack on offense: Brie Hernandez, Malaiah O'Bannon, and Destinee McTheny posted four points each. Hernandez also led the team in rebounds with four. Lylah Pierce took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.

As for Mingus, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1. They have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 27 points or more this season.

Savannah Tobias produced another solid performance dropping a triple-double with 31 points, ten rebounds, and ten steals. That makes it six consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Mingus' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenna Cook, who shot 47% from the field to rack up 19 points along with eight boards and five assists.

Shadow Mountain wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 37-31 defeat against Tempe on the 3rd. As for Mingus, they will head out on the road to square off against ALA - Queen Creek at 7:00 p.m. on the 10th.
