Basketball Recap: Christopher Stoddart Key Part of a Team Effort in Mustangs Win

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Mitchell ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They managed a 65-61 victory over the Palm Harbor University Hurricanes. For the Mustangs, this counts as revenge for the 62-48 win the Hurricanes walked away with the last time they faced one another back in November of 2023.

Mitchell's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Christopher Stoddart, who posted 19 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. Those three steals gave Stoddart a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Fillipe Frangie, who scored 15 points and eight boards.

Mitchell smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

Palm Harbor University lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Curtis George, who went 10 of 14 en route to 23 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Colin Rasmussen was another key player, going 6 for 10 from beyond the arc on his way to 18 points.

The win got Mitchell back to even at 9-9. As for Palm Harbor University, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-13.

Mitchell didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 64-51 victory against Wesley Chapel on the 21st. Palm Harbor University has also already played their next contest, a 57-48 win against Bayshore Christian on the 18th.
