Basketball Game Preview: Austin Maroons vs. Dripping Springs Tigers

Austin is 7-0 against Dripping Springs since November of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Austin Maroons will look to defend their home court against the Dripping Springs Tigers at 7:00 p.m. After both made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Friday.

Austin is headed into the matchup after thoroughly thrashing Del Valle: they outscored them in every quarter. Everything went Austin's way against Del Valle on Tuesday as Austin made off with a 63-42 win. The Maroons have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine games by 21 points or more this season.

Jillian Shirk continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 6 for 14 en route to 20 points and three steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Evelyn Young, who posted eight points and nine rebounds.

Meanwhile, Dripping Springs had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past Akins, posting a 73-27 victory.

Austin is also on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 14 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-10 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.9 points per game. As for Dripping Springs, their win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-17.

Everything came up roses for Austin against Dripping Springs in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, as the team secured a 71-40 victory. In that match, Austin amassed a halftime lead of 39-18, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
