Softball Preview: Grace Davis Spartans vs. Johansen Vikings

Grace Davis and Johansen are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2017, but likely not for long. The Grace Davis Spartans will head out on the road to challenge the Johansen Vikings at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The pair have had a bumpy ride up to this point with six consecutive losses for Grace Davis and 17 for Johansen dating back to last season.

Things were looking good for Grace Davis after they put the first points on the board on Tuesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They lost 22-10 to Beyer. Even if Grace Davis couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Johansen lost 11-1 to Lathrop on Tuesday.

Jamie Zarilla and Jocelyn Ibanez Soto stepped up to the plate in a big way. Zarilla scored a run and stole three bases while going 1-for-2, while Ibanez Soto went 2-for-2 with a stolen base and an RBI.

Grace Davis' loss dropped their record down to 2-16. As for Johansen, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-15.

Grace Davis took their victory against Johansen when the teams last played back in April by a conclusive 14-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for Grace Davis since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
