Eagle River is 2-8 against Service since May of 2023 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Wolves will take on the Cougars at 7:00 p.m. Eagle River will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Eagle River is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Wasilla a 10-0 shutout. The Wolves might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by seven runs or more this season.
Ryan Mullen was a major factor no matter where he played. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. Mullen was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jack Mullen, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Dallin Roberts was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Eagle River always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wasilla only posted an OBP of .143.
Meanwhile, Service faced Juneau-Douglas in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Cougars came out on top against the Crimson Bears by a score of 5-0.
Braun Precosky looked comfortable as he pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
At the plate, Rilen Niclai was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Palmer Dalton, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
Eagle River's record now sits at 15-3-2. As for Service, their record is now 19-4.
Eagle River skirted past Service 4-3 when the teams last played on Friday. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolves since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
