Softball Recap: Emery Takes a Loss

Emery dropped their record down to 22-13 on Saturday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 11-1 to the Grantsville Cowboys. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Spartans have suffered since April 12th.

Emery saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Elly Stilson, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one double.

As for Grantsville, they are on a roll lately: they've won 20 of their last 22 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games.

On Grantsville's side, Hayden Bytheway made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over six innings pitched. Bytheway has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Addison Durfee, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most hits she has posted over her last 13 games. Another player making a difference was Brynn Anderson, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

As of now, neither Emery nor Grantsville have any future games scheduled.
