Softball Recap: Selinsgrove's Win Ends Five-Game Losing Streak at Home

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Milton, Selinsgrove was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They walked away with a 10-7 victory over the Minersville Battlin' Miners. This was payback for the Seals, who suffered a 6-2 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Maddison Burd made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in earned runs (zero). She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. In other batting news, Molly Hess was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run and four RBI. Another player making a difference was Alyvia Herrold, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3.

Selinsgrove's win ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-3. As for Minersville, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Selinsgrove will welcome Jersey Shore at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Minersville, they will host Schuylkill Haven at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
