Softball Recap: Bowie Comes Up Short

If Bowie was riding high fresh off their 13-1 takedown of Stony Point last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bowie Bulldogs came up short against the Leander Lions on Friday, falling 12-3. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bulldogs of the 5-3 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2023.

Josie Busceme and Cadie Hays did some serious damage despite the final result: Busceme scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances, while Hays went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases Busceme has posted since back in April of 2024.

Bowie's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Leander, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to a perfect 2-0.

Looking ahead, Bowie will head out on the road to challenge San Marcos at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Leander, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Vandegrift at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.
