Football Recap: St. Edward Starts Season with Win Against Timothy Christian + How To Watch

St. Edward took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Friday. They blew past the Timothy Christian Trojans, posting a 59-6 win. With the Green Wave ahead 53-6 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

A big part of St. Edward's victory came down to the chemistry between Sarah Gurley and her top target Savannah Lynch. Gurley rushed for 57 yards and a pair of scores on only seven carries while Lynch gained 172 total yards and five touchdowns. Lynch really tore up the turf during one magnificent 86-yard run.

St. Edward didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off seven passes before the game was over. Gurley and Lynch were the leaders of the group effort as each produced three apiece. Lynch got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

This is the second loss in a row for Timothy Christian and nudges their season record down to 0-2.

St. Edward has already played their next matchup, a 52-0 win against Larkin on the 2nd. As for Timothy Christian, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Rosary at 4:30 p.m. on the 11th.
