Football Recap: St. Edward Starts Season with Win Against Timothy Christian + How To Watch

St. Edward gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They claimed a resounding 59-6 victory over the Timothy Christian Trojans. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Green Wave just coasted through the last quarter.

A big part of St. Edward's win came down to the chemistry between Sarah Gurley and her top target Savannah Lynch. Gurley rushed for 57 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only seven carries while Lynch gained 172 total yards and five touchdowns. Lynch really caught the secondary sleeping when she pulled down a catch that went for 86 yards.

St. Edward didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off seven passes before the game was over. Gurley and Lynch were the leaders of the group effort as each produced three apiece. Lynch got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Timothy Christian's loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

St. Edward didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 52-0 victory against Larkin on the 2nd. As for Timothy Christian, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Rosary at 4:30 p.m. on the 11th.
