The IMG Academy Blue Ascenders will head out on the road to challenge the Bell Creek Academy Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in IMG Academy Blue's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five games.
IMG Academy Blue pushed their score all the way to 72 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 83-72 to Mainland. While losing is never fun, IMG Academy Blue can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 223rd, while Mainland is ranked 54th).
Meanwhile, Bell Creek Academy's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They took a 65-60 hit to the loss column at the hands of Victory Christian Academy. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
IMG Academy Blue's defeat dropped their record down to 8-10. As for Bell Creek Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 9-9.
IMG Academy Blue didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Bell Creek Academy in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 64-59 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for IMG Academy Blue since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
