Baseball Recap: Countryside Now 4-1 over Last Five Games

Countryside won the last time they faced Boca Ciega and things went their way on Monday too. Countryside walked away with a 7-2 win over Boca Ciega.

Braeden Callahan made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3.

In other pitching news, Jake Riba looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in earned runs (zero).

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Luke Neubauer, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Another player making a difference was Jaxson Contrino, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases.

Countryside was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Countryside is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. Boca Ciega dropped their record down to 1-16 with the loss, which was their eighth straight at home.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Countryside will head out to take on Largo at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games Largo has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Boca Ciega, they are taking a road trip to face off against Manatee at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Boca Ciega is facing Manatee at the right time seeing as Manatee is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
