Preview: Murray Spartans vs. Layton Lancers
The Murray Spartans's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Layton Lancers at 11:30 a.m. on December 27th. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Thursday, Murray beat Kearns 61-49. 61 seems to be a good number for Murray as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
Murray's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kade Whitlock, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds. Quinton Christman was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, Layton put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Westlake by a score of 80-71. Given Layton's advantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth, while Westlake is ranked 58th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Murray's victory bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Layton, they pushed their record up to 8-0 with that victory, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.
