Softball Game Preview: San Juan Spartans vs. Woodland Christian Cardinals

For the second straight game, San Juan will face off against Woodland Christian. The Spartans will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Cardinals at 4:00 p.m. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: San Juan has struggled recently with nine losses in a row, while Woodland Christian will arrive with ten straight wins.

San Juan fell victim to Woodland Christian and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Cardinals, falling 22-0.

For Woodland Christian's part, Chayse Anderson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Anderson was also solid in the batter's box, scoring four runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Adison Huiskens, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylee Bihlman, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.

Woodland Christian's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for San Juan, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-9.
