Softball Recap: Erwin Gets the Win

Erwin hadn't done well against Tuscola recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Warriors skirted past the Mountaineers 9-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Warriors have posted against the Mountaineers since May 3, 2019.

Erwin got a massive performance out of Jaycee Woody, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Taegan Payne was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three runs and one stolen base.

Erwin was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2025.

Erwin now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Tuscola, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Erwin will host A.C. Reynolds at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The contest will give the Warriors their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Tuscola, they will take on Franklin at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Mountaineers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 8 runs per game this season.
