Basketball Recap: Cassadaga Valley Takes a Loss

Cassadaga Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 21st straight defeat dating back to last season. They came up short against the Ellicottville Eagles, falling 55-31. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 39-27 back in December of 2024.

Ellicottville got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Rylan Benjamin out in front who en route to 17 points and four steals. Benjamin is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last four games he's played. Cameron Mendell was another key player, on his way to 13 points.

Cassadaga Valley's loss dropped their record down to 0-12. As for Ellicottville, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season.

Cassadaga Valley didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 46-41 defeat against Forestville Central on the 21st. Ellicottville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
