Basketball Recap: American Heritage Takes a Loss

American Heritage was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were outmatched by the Somerset Academy Panthers and fell 81-45. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 470th, while the Panthers are ranked 166th).

Despite the loss, American Heritage still got an impressive performance from Dhiran Nara, who went 7 of 13 on his way to 20 points. With that strong performance, Nara is now averaging an impressive 15.8 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaedon Bailey, who posted two points along with 11 boards and five blocks.

Somerset Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Mekhi Hudson-Dillard, who went 7 of 14 on his way to 21 points and six rebounds. Christian Smith was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 16 points and nine assists.

American Heritage's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Somerset Academy, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

American Heritage wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 56-33 loss against NSU University on the 10th. As for Somerset Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 61-27 victory against Somerset Prep on the 10th.
