Softball Game Preview: James Island Trojans vs. Summerville Green Wave

James Island is 0-3 against Summerville since March of 2017 but things could change on Monday. The Trojans will welcome the Green Wave at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Friday, James Island was able to grind out a solid win over Ashley Ridge, taking the game 5-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Trojans.

Mary Davis Hancock made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. Hancock was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024.

Hancock wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Chelsea Hays, who scored a run while going 1-for-1. Another was Gabby Noonan, who scored two runs while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Summerville strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over West Ashley.

Summerville's win was their 22nd straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 16-0. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for James Island, their win bumped their record up to 4-6.
