Baseball Game Preview: Fairview Knights vs. Fort Collins Lambkins

The Fairview Knights will head out on the road to square off against the Fort Collins Lambkins at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Fairview can't be to happy about their upcoming road match considering what happened when they opened their season on the away from home on Tuesday. They fell just short of Mountain Vista by a score of 2-1.

Fairview got a good showing from Oliver Peterson, who pitched 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. That's the fewest hits Peterson has allowed since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, Fairview saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isaac Waymire, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases. That's the most stolen bases Waymire has posted since back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, Fort Collins unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They lost 14-8 to Chaparral on Tuesday. The Lambkins have struggled against the Wolverines recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meetings.

Dylan Rubenstein made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Oliver Stanevich, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4.

Fairview couldn't quite finish off Fort Collins when the teams last played back in April of 2024 and fell 6-4. Can Fairview avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
