Softball Game Preview: Tahoma Bears vs. Lake Washington Kangaroos

The Tahoma Bears are taking a road trip to square off against the Lake Washington Kangaroos at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Tahoma has six straight wins, Lake Washington has 11 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

The home team had come away the winner the last five times Tahoma and Auburn Riverside had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Bears blew past the Ravens 12-5 on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won four games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Alexa Ramirez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over 7.1 innings while giving up four earned runs off 12 hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Mia Hammington and Kelsey Jones did most of the damage at the plate: Hammington fired off two home runs and three runs while going 3-for-5, while Jones went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Those three hits gave Jones a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Taryn Jones, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

The home team had come away the winner the last three times Lake Washington and Juanita had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Kangaroos took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ravens on Friday.

Lake Washington saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emery Stone, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Hailey Toungate also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Tahoma pushed their record up to 9-2 with the victory, which was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.4 runs over those games. As for Lake Washington, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-9.
