Recap: Chamblee Bulldogs vs. M.L. King Lions
The Chamblee Bulldogs waltzed into their match on Tuesday with three straight wins but they left with four. They blew past M.L. King 75-30 at home. Given Chamblee's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 210th, while M.L. King is ranked 423rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Chamblee had a senior duo take command as Alana Azeta scored 21 points along with five rebounds and two blocks and Mackenzie Cassidy scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and three steals. It was the first time this season that Cassidy pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Brianna Wood, who scored ten points along with two blocks.
Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Janaya Williams, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds and five steals. Williams is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 15 games she's played. Aubriana Kirkland was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Chamblee has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. As for M.L. King, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 13 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-16 record this season.
Chamblee will take on Tucker at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Chamblee is facing Tucker at the right time seeing as Tucker is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for M.L. King, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Decatur at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Dejah Raine and Alika Daugherty.
