Basketball Game Preview: Yazoo County Panthers vs. Humphreys County Cowboys

The Yazoo County Panthers will take on the Humphreys County Cowboys at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Yazoo County's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five games.

Yazoo County is headed into the contest having just posted their biggest win since February 5, 2024 on Friday. Everything went their way against Amanda Elzy as Yazoo County made off with a 74-52 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Yazoo County has posted against Amanda Elzy since January 22, 2019.

Meanwhile, Humphreys County came up short against Edwards on Friday and fell 52-39. While losing is never fun, the Cowboys can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 157th, while the Tigers are ranked 49th).

Yazoo County has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-13 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.0 points per game. As for Humphreys County, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-9.

Yazoo County came out on top in a nail-biter against Humphreys County in their previous matchup two weeks ago, sneaking past 58-55.
