Volleyball Recap: Grapevine Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Grapevine, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. Everything went their way against the Liberty Christian Warriors on Tuesday as they made off with a 3-0 victory. That's more bragging rights for the Mustangs, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

While Grapevine won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the first set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 25-8, 25-16.

Their offense was headlined by Cheyenne Gunner and Claire Stewart, who picked up 12 kills apiece. They got some help from Finley Love and her 22 assists. Gunner also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Prescott Carey, each putting up two.

Despite the loss, Liberty Christian still got an impressive performance from Georgia Rollins, who had 15 digs and four assists. Rollins has been hot for a while, having posted 14 or more digs the last nine times she's played.

Grapevine's record is now 23-19. As for Liberty Christian, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 16-24.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Grapevine will square off against Azle at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Hornets will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Mustangs surely won't give up without a fight. As for Liberty Christian, after both having extra time off, they and John Paul II will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
