Volleyball Recap: Mercy Wins High-Profile Matchup Against Clarkston

Mercy faced Clarkston in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Marlins skirted past the Wolves 2-1. The win continues a trend for the Marlins in their matchups with the Wolves: they've now won three in a row.

Mercy's offense was headlined by Ella Andrews and Kate Kalczynski, who picked up nine kills apiece. They got some help from Kaelyn Easton and her 26 assists. Kalczynski also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Anna Naida, each putting up three.

Clarkston's loss came despite strong showings from Stella Smith and Aydia Bartz. Smith had nine digs and three assists, while Bartz had four aces. Bartz has been hot recently, having posted two or more aces the last three times she's played.

Mercy's record now sits at 35-4-2. As for Clarkston, their defeat dropped their record down to 26-6-1.

Mercy has already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Jenison on the 25th. As for Clarkston, they will be playing in front of their home fans against South Lyon at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
