Basketball Game Preview: Deer Park Stags vs. Rogers Pirates

The Deer Park Stags will venture away from home to take on the Rogers Pirates at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Deer Park has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since December 28.

Deer Park is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against North Central on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Deer Park was beaten by North Central 96-49. While losing is never fun, the Stags can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 315th, while the Wolfpack are ranked 82nd).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Rogers). They really took it to Pasco for the full four quarters, racking up an 80-48 win. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Rogers' win bumped their record up to 4-8. As for Deer Park, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-10.

Deer Park was taken down by Rogers 69-31 in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Can Deer Park avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
