Basketball Recap: Portal Comes Up Short

Portal was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They had to suffer through a 69-27 loss at the hands of the McIntosh County Academy Buccaneers. The matchup marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Portal lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Brian Mcqueen, who posted eight points. Another player making a difference was Josh Coleman, who scored seven points.

McIntosh County Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Craig Battle led the charge by going 8 of 13 on his way to 20 points and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Neo West, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine assists.

Portal's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for McIntosh County Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.

Portal didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 69-53 win against Emanuel County Institute on the 4th. As for McIntosh County Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 64-30 victory against Metter on the 4th.
