Baseball Recap: Ross Wins Going Away Against Huron

Ross lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Huron, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Saturday's contest. The Little Giants were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Tigers on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Little Giants, who have now won six matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Robert Rich Jr made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (three). He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

In other pitching news, Karson Kayden looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Ross is 6-2 when he allows at most two walks, but 5-6 otherwise.

Back at the plate, Max Durnwald was excellent, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Cade Reineck was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Ross has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Huron, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ross will host Napoleon at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Huron, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Clyde at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
