Basketball Recap: Hillcrest Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Laterrance Potter Jr and Dj Corbin

After flying high against Sunset last Tuesday, Hillcrest came back down to earth. The Hillcrest Panthers came up short against the South Oak Cliff Bears on Friday, falling 69-47. The defeat continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Bears: they've now lost seven in a row.

Hillcrest's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Dj Corbin, who posted 14 points and six rebounds, and Laterrance Potter Jr, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 16 points.

Hillcrest's defeat dropped their record down to 4-10. As for South Oak Cliff, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hillcrest will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Jefferson at 8:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. After both having extra time off, South Oak Cliff and Sunset will dust off their jerseys to square off against one another at 2:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
