Basketball Game Preview: Rocky Ford Meloneers vs. Holly Wildcats

Rocky Ford hasn't had much luck against Holly recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Rocky Ford Meloneers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Holly Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Rocky Ford is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They came out on top against Mitchell by a score of 59-49 on Monday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Meloneers.

Meanwhile, Holly waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Bobcats, posting an 83-15 win. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 22 points or more this season.

Holly's win came from a few key players Rocky Ford will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Devin Eaton, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 12 boards. He is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Truman King was another key player, going 10 of 17 on his way to 21 points and four steals.

Holly was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Holly pushed their record up to 7-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.3 points per game. As for Rocky Ford, their win bumped their record up to 2-11.

Rocky Ford was taken down by Holly 75-42 when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Thankfully for Rocky Ford, Andre Salgado (who went 10 for 22 en route to 26 points along with six rebounds and three steals) won't be suiting up this time.
