Baseball Recap: Salem Has No Trouble Against King's Fork

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Cox, Salem was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the King's Fork Bulldogs. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Sundevils as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Zachary Rigsby made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Salem is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 0-6 otherwise. Rigsby was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Cole Cooper was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Cristian Cooper, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Salem's win bumped their record up to 2-7. As for King's Fork, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-5.

Looking ahead, Salem will host Norview at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for King's Fork, they are taking a road trip to face off against Southampton at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
