Recap: Faith Christian Patriots vs. Harrells Christian Academy Crusaders
After flying high against the Kerr-Vance Academy Spartans last Friday, the Faith Christian Patriots came back down to earth. Faith Christian was the victim of a tough 88-62 defeat at the hands of Harrells Christian Academy on Monday. Faith Christian has struggled against Harrells Christian Academy recently, as their game on Monday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Faith Christian lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Michael Grant, who scored 24 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Grant has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Bennie Griffin, who scored 18 points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Harrells Christian Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Dashaun Mckoy, who dropped a double-double on 30 points and 14 rebounds. Mckoy has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last five times he's played. Antonio McKoy was another key contributor, scoring 24 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.
Faith Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 10-6. As for Harrells Christian Academy, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 15-10.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Faith Christian won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Oakwood at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Oakwood is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. Harrells Christian Academy won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Rocky Mount Academy at 6:45 p.m. on January 23rd. Rocky Mount Academy is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
