League recap: Westmont climbs in state rankings

Westmont moved up to 584 from 627 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Santa Teresa. The Warriors were able to move up by topping Del Mar 62-0.

Westmont took down the Dons 62-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. AJ Mintz threw for 96 yards and 2 touchdowns during the win.

Eric Buran's team's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Mark Derobertis chipped in 145 yards. Zach Primeaux helped Westmont's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 31 yards.

The Warriors' dynamic duo of Mintz and Dan Speciale proved to be unstoppable against Del Mar, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Primeaux helped Westmont's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 31 yards.

Derobertis was a passing and rushing force as Westmont defeated Bryan Beacraft's team. Derobertis' favorite target this week was Speciale, who caught 3 passes for 49 yards.

The leading receiver in the league this season is Cole Griffin. The Live Oak star has 7 catches for 153 yards.

Fans will be treated to a premier battle in the secondary when Live Oak's Griffin goes up against Leigh's Brett Kempski.

At the moment, the Acorns are in third, while the Longhorns are in first.

The Warriors made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 8,342 from 8,798. The improvement was the result of a 62-0 victory over the Dons last week.
