Basketball Recap: Elbert County Comes Up Short

Elbert County lost against Banks County back in February of 2022 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Elbert County Blue Devils fell 83-72 to the Banks County Leopards.

Despite the loss, Elbert County still got an impressive performance from Grady Jones, who went 6 of 11 from beyond the arc on his way to 24 points and eight rebounds. That's the most boards Jones has posted since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Dealyn Gray, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 boards.

Banks County got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kolby Watson out in front who went 9 of 19 on his way to 25 points and eight rebounds. Antonio Gonzalez was another key player, putting up 15 points along with eight rebounds and seven assists.

Elbert County has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for Banks County, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.

Elbert County didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 77-74 defeat against Hart County on the 14th. As for Banks County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 71-63 win against Commerce on the 17th.
