Woodrow Wilson got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Mack Cooper out in front who threw for 121 yards and a pair of touchdowns. What's more, Cooper racked up 12 rushing yards, the most he's had since back in August. Jemel Grigsby helped out on the ground, rushing for 103 yards.
Woodrow Wilson was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 253 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lakewood only rushed for 30.
Woodrow Wilson's defense stepped up as well, laying out Kade Casillas three times. Zackariah Salcedo was especially locked on to Lakewood's QB and sacked him twice. Salcedo has been hot, having also posted five or more total tackles the last five times he's played.
Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Paraclete ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They won a game that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by St. Paul 43-42.
Woodrow Wilson better keep an eye on Joseph Mesa. He was instrumental in Paraclete's win, throwing for 206 yards and four TDs, while also rushing for 82 yards and one score. Kyle Fulton Jr was another key player, rushing for 138 yards and one touchdown.
Woodrow Wilson's record is now 9-1. As for Paraclete, their record now sits at 8-2.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Woodrow Wilson has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 187.3 rushing yards per game.
