Basketball Recap: Pine Lake Prep Finds Playoff Glory Versus Lexington

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Pine Lake Prep walked away with it. They enjoyed a cozy 81-66 victory over the Lexington Yellowjackets on Tuesday. Given the Pride's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 76th, while the Yellowjackets are ranked 299th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Joseph Bruce, who went 8-for-13 to rack up 22 points and five steals. He has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last nine times he's played. Another player making a difference was Gary Grear, who shot 46% from the field en route to 16 points.

The win was the fourth in a row for Pine Lake Prep, bringing their record for this year to 21-7. As for Lexington, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-12.

Pine Lake Prep wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, an 81-46 loss against Salisbury on the 28th. Lexington does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
