Basketball Recap: Columbia Victorious

After losing to Cedar Grove the last time they met, Columbia decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Eagles came out on top against the Saints by a score of 75-64 on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.

Columbia had a senior duo take command as Deven Nelson posted 21 points and Zayd Muhammad scored 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jace Smith, who had ten points.

Several Saints players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Emanuel Green, who earned 23 points. Another player making a difference was Dontavius Stringfield, who put up 15 points.

Columbia's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Cedar Grove, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Columbia and Cedar Grove will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matchups. The next time the Eagles see the court they'll take on M.L. King at 4:00 p.m. on the 22nd. As for Cedar Grove, their break will end when they face Webb at 4:30 p.m. on the 24th.
