Preview: Holdenville Wolverines vs. Chandler Lions

The Holdenville Wolverines will head out on the road to square off against the Chandler Lions at 7:00 a.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Holdenville was handed a two-point defeat in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Konawa on Saturday. Holdenville breezed by Konawa on the road to the tune of 82-45. Given Holdenville's advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 149th, while Konawa is ranked 383rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Kase Sipes and Izaia King were among the main playmakers for Holdenville as the former scored 17 points and the latter scored 20 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points King has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Seeley, who scored 12 points.

Meanwhile, Chandler entered their tilt with Prague with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. Chandler took down Prague 62-43 on Tuesday.

Holdenville has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a massive bump to their 15-8 record this season. As for Chandler, their win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-4.

Holdenville beat Chandler 72-59 when the teams last played back in February of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Holdenville since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
