Basketball Recap: Muhlenberg County Victorious

Muhlenberg County hasn't had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They pulled ahead with a 46-45 photo finish over the Webster County Trojans on Saturday. For the Mustangs, this counts as revenge for the 67-57 win the Trojans walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2020.

Muhlenberg County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Taylor Wilkins, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 14 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Brinly Sparks, who went 5 of 9 en route to 12 points and six steals.

Muhlenberg County's record now sits at 4-12. As for Webster County, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-8.

Muhlenberg County and Webster County could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Kentucky Rankings. Muhlenberg County will challenge Edmonson County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday down 112 places (215 vs. 103). Meanwhile, Webster County (ranked 150th) will meet Henderson County (ranked seventh) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
