Metro-East Lutheran is 0-6 against South Fork/Edinburg/Morrisonville since March of 2021 but things could change  on Friday. The Knights will host the Ponies  at 7:00  p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Metro-East Lutheran is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another  one of Illinois' top teams: Meridian, who was ranked 17th  at the time (Metro-East Lutheran was ranked fourth). The Knights really took it to the Hawks for the full four quarters, racking up  a  60-26 victory. The Knights'  win was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet  this season.

 Abe Oberhauser produced another solid  performance throwing for 165 yards and four  TDs, while also rushing for 162 yards on only 12 carries. That's the most  passing touchdowns  he has posted since back in October of 2024. Another player making a difference was  Lee Watson, who rushed for 156 yards while picking up 7.8 yards per carry.
 Metro-East Lutheran's run defense was locked in: Meridian could only muster 2.4 yards per carry. The team can thank  Landyn Jefferson for the heroic effort on defense: he. Metro-East Lutheran didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 9.7.
 Metro-East Lutheran didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut  Ben Schilbe.
Meanwhile,  you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter and that's exactly how it played out for South Fork/Edinburg/Morrisonville  on Friday. They blew past St. Anne 48-26. South Fork/Edinburg/Morrisonville's victory was all the more impressive since the Cardinals were averaging only 13.2 points allowed on the season.
 Metro-East Lutheran better keep an eye on  George Bailey. He was instrumental in South Fork/Edinburg/Morrisonville's win, rushing for 310 yards and four  touchdowns while picking up 10.3 yards per carry. Bailey was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 65 yards.  Brodey Vanhooser was another key player, rushing for 73 yards and one  score.
 Metro-East Lutheran's win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for South Fork/Edinburg/Morrisonville, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 5-0.
Friday's   matchup might be decided on the ground. Metro-East Lutheran has been unstoppable on the ground this season,  having  averaged 307.4  rushing yards per game. However, it's not like South Fork/Edinburg/Morrisonville struggles in that department as   they've been averaging 317.6  rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's   contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
