Volleyball Recap: Martinsville Triumphs

It was close, but on Monday the Martinsville Artesians sidestepped the Tri-West Hendricks Bruins for a 3-2 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Artesians.

Martinsville wouldn't go down easily and took Tri-West Hendricks into a fifth set where they got it done with a four-point win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 17-25, 25-17, 25-23, 20-25, 15-11.

Martinsville can attribute much of their success to River Jackson, who had 23 digs. Those 23 digs gave Jackson a new career-high.

Tri-West Hendricks lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Ben Burry, who had 14 digs and two aces. The team also got some help courtesy of Trey Elam, who had five kills and four blocks.

Martinsville's victory bumped their record up to 9-11. As for Tri-West Hendricks, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10-1.

Martinsville has already played their next match, a 3-2 defeat against Whiteland on the 6th. As for Tri-West Hendricks, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 3-0 loss against Indianapolis Lutheran on the 6th.
