Basketball Game Preview: Sacred Heart Prep Gators vs. Menlo-Atherton Bears

The Sacred Heart Prep Gators and the Menlo-Atherton Bears will face off at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

On Friday, Sacred Heart Prep was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 66-62 to King's Academy.

Sacred Heart Prep's defeat came about despite a quality game from Matthew Norris, who went 10 of 12 on his way to 22 points. Those 22 points gave Norris a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alex Straser, who posted 14 points.

Menlo-Atherton's found some homefield redemption this week after a overtime loss to Palo Alto on Friday. Menlo-Atherton took down Half Moon Bay 56-42.

Menlo-Atherton pushed their record up to 13-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 24.5 points. As for Sacred Heart Prep, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 8-6.
