Basketball Recap: Ord Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Ord proved they can win big last Friday (they won by 33) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Broken Bow Indians, sneaking past 48-45. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Chanticleers have posted since January 23, 2024.

Ord's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Garret Severance, who on his way to 17 points and six rebounds. The dominant performance gave Severance a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Jordan Williams, who to rack up 13 points along with six boards and three steals.

Broken Bow lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Braxtton Johnson, who almost dropped a double-double with 14 points and nine rebounds. Dominic Nowak was another key player, putting up 12 points and six boards.

The victory was the third in a row for Ord, bringing their record for this year to 11-13. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.7 points over those games. As for Broken Bow, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-15.

Coming up, Ord won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Holdrege at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Holdrege knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 14 games -- so hopefully Ord likes a good challenge. Broken Bow does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
