Baseball Recap: Amherst's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Amherst dropped their record down to 15-7 on Friday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins on the road. They came up short against the Wittenberg-Birnamwood Chargers, falling 20-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Chargers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-0 back in April.

Amherst saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Logan Hintz, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

As for Wittenberg-Birnamwood, the win was the 12th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 19-2. Considering they have won 11 matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

On Wittenberg-Birnamwood's side, they let Zandyr Barke and Milo Salvesen run wild. Barke went 2-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base, while Salvesen went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Barke continues to improve, besting his previous run total in each of the last three games he's played. Hayden Miller was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

Coming up, Amherst will challenge Columbus Catholic at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Wittenberg-Birnamwood, they are taking a road trip to square off against Shiocton at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
