Southern Wells is 1-9 against Wes-Del since May of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Raiders will face off against the Warriors at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Southern Wells is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They came out on top against Fort Wayne Wayne by a score of 12-8 on Monday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Raiders considering their one-run performance the contest before.
Kaylea Coffel was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over four innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Kim McCune and Remi Holmes did most of the damage at the plate: McCune went 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Holmes went 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those four hits gave McCune a new career-high. Miranda Slobe also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
Southern Wells always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .564. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Wes-Del had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. Everything went their way against the Indians as they made off with an 8-0 victory. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by eight runs or more this season.
Like Southern Wells, Wes-Del also got a great game from a two-way player: Bailee West. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. West has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Wes-Del got a massive performance out of Kenzie Anderson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Marley Bertram was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Southern Wells' first win this season bumped their record up to 1-7. As for Wes-Del, their record is now 5-3.
