Softball Game Preview: McGill-Toolen Yellowjackets vs. Baldwin County Tigers

McGill-Toolen is 0-6 against Baldwin County since March of 2018 but things could change on Tuesday. The McGill-Toolen Yellowjackets will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Baldwin County Tigers at 4:30 p.m. McGill-Toolen has given up an average of 10.8 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.

McGill-Toolen is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their eighth straight game dating back to last season two weeks ago. They lost 15-0 to Gulf Shores.

McGill-Toolen saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Presley Barber, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Baldwin County's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell just short of Daphne by a score of 2-1.

Madilyn Byrd spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 15 Ks. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in May of 2024.

McGill-Toolen's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3-1. As for Baldwin County, their loss dropped their record down to 8-3.

McGill-Toolen suffered a grim 19-0 defeat to Baldwin County in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can McGill-Toolen avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
