Football Recap: Redding Christian Piles Up the Points Against Weed + How To Watch

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Redding Christian). They breezed past the Weed Cougars to the tune of 61-18 on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won nine games by 20 points or more so far this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Redding Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Wyatt Shaw, who threw for 205 yards and six TDs while completing 85.7% of his passes. Shaw is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in each of the last eight games he's played. Conner Moore helped Shaw out on the ground, rushing for 101 yards and a pair of scores on only six carries.

Redding Christian's run defense was locked in: Weed could only muster 2.8 yards per carry. The team can thank David LaBabera for the heroic effort on defense: he. That's the most yards per carry they've posted since back in November of 2024.

Redding Christian's defense also made the game a nightmare for the opposing QB, racking up 14 sacks. It was truly a group effort as Kamdyn Coates, Brodie Ogden, and Caden Russo picked up two apiece. Thanks to that big game, Russo is now up to 11 sacks on the season. Collin Matos got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Several Cougars players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jett Marshall, who picked up 165 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 40 yards. Marshall really caught the secondary sleeping when he pulled down a catch that went for 75 yards.

Redding Christian's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-0. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their offensive performance: the team's won by an average of 30.6 points thus far. As for Weed, they are on an 11-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-10.

Looking ahead, Redding Christian will face off against Modoc at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Weed does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
